The Main Principles of the Groton Independents

Here for the People

Citizen-Centered Policies

Citizen-Centered Policies

We're here for the people of Groton, not political parties or our own personal interests. Being a Groton Independent means prioritizing working across party lines and identities, and inviting the brilliant diversity of residents that make up our community to participate in our Town's government!

Budget Reform

Citizen-Centered Policies

Sunlight for All

In the past five years, Groton's budget has increased almost $10 MILLION.

There needs to be an overhaul of departmental costs, capital project priorities and diversification of revenue.

The Groton Independents also support publishing Town expenditures monthly to the Town website for greater transparency and accountability.

Environmental Leadership

Sunlight for All

A healthy democracy requires debate of ideas and exchange of information to happen in the open, with all decision makers engaging the problem openly to implement solutions.

All decisions need to happen in open session; all Councilors should have the right to represent their constituents at meetings without restrictive rules on their speech; FOIA requests should be the exception, not the rule.

Environmental Leadership

Environmental Leadership

Environmental Leadership

The Groton Independents believe in being leaders in environmental stewardship. We believe Groton can and should do more to protect our residents from the current impacts of global climate change, as well as be leaders in creative and collaborative solutions to address climate change on a regional and state level. Think globally, act locally!
